If Money Was Not An Object, Where would you buy a House in Toronto?

If I had the luxury of buying a house without a budget I would choose Rosedale: this is one of Toronto's oldest neighborhoods, it is built amongst 3 Ravines that are preserved as parkland and extends out to Yonge Street which offers many great amenities, restaurants, boutique shops and easy transportation. Rosedale was settled in the early 1800's by Sheriff William Jarvis and his wife Mary. It was Mary Jarvis who named the estate Rosedale as a homage to the many Rose bushes that graced the hillsides. Mary would frequently ride on horseback through the winding trails which now constitute Rosedales picturesque streets. Mary Jarvis was my kinda girl, as she liked the outdoors and enjoyed being active, and the Rosedale Ravine still provides a beautiful backdrop for running, walking and biking - all activities that I like to take advantage of in a forested setting while still residing in the downtown.

The architecture in Rosedale also has a caché, that in my opinion is not matched in Toronto in any other neighbourhood. Houses range from Edwardian to Tudor, but are mostly Victorian and Georgian. I like the fact that although the homes in Rosedale are large, there is still a community feel, and neighbors are quite social with eachother because the homes are not so spread out. There is a heritage wide by-law in Rosedale that protects these historical homes - in general from the outside these homes can not be changed, to necessitate the Historical significance of the neighborhood.

The neighborhood that you choose to live in is a personal choice at any price point, and has to suit your lifestyle. Rosedale happens to be my first choice, but I definitely have others.

Forest Hill, The Bridal Path, and Lawrence Park are also excellent neighbourhoods that would also provide a nice selection of homes that might appeal to someone buying where "money is no object" and I would be happy to answer any questions on these neighborhoods and how they compare and contrast.
